W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park is scheduled to open on July 21, 2021. The park is located at 4521 Gibbs Road in Danville.
The Phase I construction includes about 70 acres of land. The park will be open from dawn to dusk daily. There will be no charge for admission to the park and disc golf course.
W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park Amenities
The park includes 70 acres of wooded land, prairie, and ponds. There will be more than two miles of well-marked gravel and natural surface trails.
There are two ponds totaling 5.5 acres. The ponds will be stocked with fish in the future! ADA-accessible amenities include a fishing dock, concrete walkways from parking lots to shelters, and two shelters. The Bluegill Shelter is located near the ponds, and the Firefly Shelter is near the playground. Both will be available to rent and include a grill and picnic tables.
Toddlers and elementary-aged kids will love the nature-themed playgrounds. There are two play areas for the different age groups. The 30-foot-tall observation and sledding hill offer year-round entertainment for all ages!
The 18-hole disc golf course will be surrounded by native prairie grasses. Picnic areas and green spaces offer other areas for all to enjoy. Additional amenities will be added in future phases.
