Hendricks County Tox-Away Days 2021

February 2, 2021 By Becky Trowbridge

Hendricks County Recycling District offers Tox-Away Days throughout the year. During these events, Hendricks County households can properly dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW).

This type of waste tends to be containers of household chemicals that are partially used. If the container is empty, it is safe to dispose of it in the normal trash. Caution words like “warning”, “toxic”, and “flammable” are all good indicators that an item should be disposed of as HHW.

2021 Hendricks County Tox-Away Days

  • May 22, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Hendricks County Fairgrounds
  • July 17, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Hickory Elementary School in Avon
  • August 28, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Hendricks County Fairgrounds

Tox-Away Day Details

Hendricks County Recycling District accepts HHW, tires, appliances, and electronics at Tox-Away Day events. All HHW is accepted from households at no charge. Fees are charged for recycling appliances ($5-10 per item), televisions ($20-25 depending on size), and tires over a certain number.

Tox-Away Day events are only open to residents of Hendricks County. Organizations such as businesses, schools, churches, and non-profits cannot participate due to regulations.

Latex paint should not be taken to Tox-Away Day for disposal. It is water-based, so it is safe to dispose of in your normal trash once it has been solidified. Heavy trash items such as furniture, carpet, and construction debris will not be accepted. Learn what to do with these items with the FAQs here.
