Sledding in Hendricks County
Bible Church in Brownsburg, located at 6045 E County Road 500 N, is a popular local sledding spot. At Washington Township Park in Avon (115 S. County Road 575), a hill in the upper level of the park near the basketball courts offers a steep sledding experience.
Danville’s Ellis Park (600 E Main Street) has a sledding hill near the Gill Family Aquatic Center. The hill at Hummel Park in Plainfield (1500 S Center St.) provides a large open sledding space. Note that you will need to enter the park from County Road 700 East to park near the hill.
Winter Hiking
McCloud Nature Park (8518 Hughes Road in North Salem) has trails for all fitness levels. Explore the park and look for birds, small mammals, and other critters as you enjoy the snowy landscape. The Vandalia Trail and the B&O Trail both offer nice places to walk, no matter the weather.
Brownsburg Parks maintains several trails that are great winter hiking options. For example, the Maple Ridge Trail at Williams Park in Brownsburg (940 S Locust Lane) is approximately one mile of crushed stone.
