The Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District offers great opportunities for Hendricks County residents to recycle unwanted items from old computers to Christmas trees.
This year the Brownsburg Yard Waste Recycling Center (90 Mardale Drive) will open on Saturday, April 1st. It is open on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 28th, 2017.
Tox-Away Days for 2017 are:
April 8th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brownsburg High School
May 20th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hendricks County Fairgrounds
July 29th from 8 am. to 1 p.m. at Hickory Elementary School in Avon
September 16th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hendricks County Fairgrounds
October 21st from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plainfield Middle School
The 2016 Tox-Away Days led to a record-breaking year for the program. More than 4,200 Hendricks County residents took part in the program, including 1,047 people who participated at the event at Brownsburg High School. Let’s try to set a new record in 2017!
You can safely recycle or dispose of items such as household hazardous wastes, appliances, electronics, unwanted medications, and tires at these events. Business waste cannot be accepted due to regulations.
Here are a few examples of items that can be brought to Tox-Away Day events:
- pesticides
- antifreeze
- items that contain mercury
- pool chemicals
- herbicides
