North Salem Old Fashion Days is a three-day event that celebrates historic traditions, from a smorgasboard breakfast to horse pulls. The 2021 event will take place over Labor Day weekend, from September 4th-6th.
The event begins with a smorgasboard breakfast at the United Methodist Church on Main Street at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m.
Old Fashion Days Parade
The Old Fashion Days parade is the largest parade in Hendricks County, drawing visitors from all over the state and beyond. Arrive early to get your parking spot and don’t forget a bag for collecting candy. The parade features everything from antique tractors to classic cars.

North Salem Old Fashion Days offers something for everyone, from the classic car show to the pie contest. Enjoy live entertainment and great food from local vendors throughout the three-day event.
Children can enter the Little Miss & Mister contest before August 23rd. Even pets can enjoy the festivities by joining the Pet Parade on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Perhaps the most unique event is the annual Bed Race, which will take place on Monday. Participants often dress in fun costumes for this race down Pearl Street. It’s definitely worth seeing!
Run/Walk/Cycle
You can also explore the area by participating in the 5k run/walk or 10k run to support the B&O Trail. Register by August 25th or on the morning of the event. The run/walk beings at 8:00 a.m. There will be overall and age group winners.
Prefer cycling? Check out the Old Fashion Days Bicycle Ride. Choose from the 13-mile route or the 33-mile route. The ride includes breakfast or lunch from a festival vendor, a prize drawing, a refreshment stop, and more. Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m. and the ride starts at 8:30 a.m.
