Washington Township Parks and Recreation opened its newest addition, Murphy Aquatic Park, over Memorial Day weekend. This all-inclusive waterpark is designed for everyone to enjoy and is the first of its kind in Indiana.

Murphy Aquatic Park Central Space
The aquatic park includes a central space with 48 splash and water toy features. There’s a wide ramp with enough room for two wheelchairs to move side by side. Ramps also provide access to the upper deck of the play area for guests in wheelchairs.
The lower deck includes a toddler zone and features zero-depth entry, a hydraulic pool lift, and accessible slides. The entire central area is accessible to wheelchairs. Water wheelchairs for child and adult use are available to anyone who needs them during a visit to the aquatic park on a first-come, first-served basis thanks to an anonymous donation.
Waterpark Features
There’s also a recreational pool that includes basketball hoops on three sides. This pool offers open recreational swimming as well as swim lessons.
There are two water slides in addition to a wave pool that has simulated waves. Sun sails and umbrellas with lounge chairs provide shade throughout the park. You’re also welcome to bring your own chairs.
The water park provides ample shade opportunities like sun sails and umbrellas, with lounge chairs. Chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but guests are welcome to bring their own. Cabanas are available to rent and there is a bathhouse that includes showers and rental lockers.
The Compass Cafe concessions stand offers a variety of items for purchase, including hamburgers, pizza, nachos, mini corn dogs, chicken nuggets, and more.
Murphy Aquatic Park Hours and Admission
The aquatic park is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the pool season. Admission is free for kids under 2. Day passes for residents are $8 and $10 for non-residents. Season tickets are also available.
Every Tuesday, sensory swim hours are offered from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to provide a quieter swimming experience. The wave pool will be turned off and pre-registration is required. The cost is $10 per person; season passes are not valid during this time.

An inclusive playground with ADA-accessible equipment is slated to open outside the aquatic center in fall 2022. It will have trails that connect to the Avon Junior Athletic Association, a large recreational hill, a pond, and much more.
