Are you interested in learning how to make your own maple syrup? Do you want to sample local maple syrup and see how it’s made right here in Hendricks County? McCloud Nature Park has two maple syrup programs this winter for you to check out!
DIY Maple Syrup
Find out how to make your own maple syrup at this free program on January 11, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. You’ll learn about the supplies needed for maple sugaring, when and how to tap your trees, how to process sap, and more. This program is free to attend and recommended for adults. No advance registration is needed.
10th Annual Maple Syrup Days
Share in a true farm-to-table experience at the 10th Annual Maple Syrup Days event in March. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on March 7th and 14th, 2020 at McCloud Nature Park. Staff and volunteers will be collecting maple sap, which will be reduced into delicious maple syrup. You can see the process and even participate first-hand during this event!
Station presentations begin every 20 minutes. Guided hikes are offered about every 30 minutes. There is an ongoing scavenger hunt in addition to a maple syrup story walk. This event is free and appropriate for all ages. No advanced registration needed. Plan to spend at least one hour enjoying the festival!
