Hendricks County is a great place to grow up, and there are plenty of fun summer activities for everyone (live music, the famous Brownsburg Fourth of July parade, festivals, and more), but perhaps most especially for kids and teens. Let’s take a look at a few highlights for summer 2019!
Lil’ Explorers Camp
McCloud Nature Park’s Lil’ Explorers Camp is designed for ages 2-5 with adult. The $12 fee covers both child and adult (if there are siblings in attendance, one adult for two siblings is fine). Advance registration is required for these day camp programs, and since they are held weekly throughout the summer there are plenty of options for fun activities, including learning about the power of the sun and nature’s superheroes! You can see details for each camp and register on the Hendricks County Parks website.
Young Adventurers Camp
The Young Adventurers Camp at McCloud Nature Park is designed for ages 6-12 (students going into grades 1-7). Programs include Minecraft-themed outdoor coding, an animal obstacle course, and much more. The program fee is $25 per day per participant. You can see details for each camp and register on the Hendricks County Parks website.
Brownsburg Public Library Summer Reading Program
This year’s theme for the Brownsburg Public Library Summer Reading Program is “A Universe of Stories.” The entire family can participate in summer reading and activities. Visit the library or check out their website to learn more. In addition to the summer reading program, the Brownsburg Public Library offers a variety of activities for all ages, from fitness classes to movie screenings and beyond. The Danville Center Township Public Library and Avon-Washington Township Library also offer excellent summer reading programs and activities.
YMCA Summer Day Camps
The YMCA offers a variety of summer day camps around the county at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, Garden City, Cedar Elementary, and Hummel Park. For more information about these camps, see the YMCA website to view the program brochure.
