‘Tis the season for tree lighting, carols, and cocoa! There are three big holiday happenings in Hendricks County on November 23rd, 2018: Christmas on the Square in Danville, the opening of the Winterland Holiday Light Display, and the Avon Ice Rink’s first day of the season. If you’re looking for holiday cheer, you’ll find plenty in Hendricks County!
12th Annual Christmas on the Square
This popular annual event kicks off the holiday season in Danville with the lighting of the Christmas tree. Christmas characters stroll around to mingle with the crowd underneath a canopy of lights, a trackless train travels around downtown Danville, and the Live Nativity tells the Christmas story.
Winterland Holiday Light Display
From November 23rd through December 28th, you can drive through this Chrismas light experience in Danville’s Ellis Park. This year, new light displays include a Colts horseshoe, fishing penguins, two custom arches, and the 12 Days of Christmas. The cost is $5.00 Monday-Thursday, or $10.00 from Friday-Sunday.
Avon Ice Rink Grand Opening Weekend
Did you know that the Avon Ice Rink is the first “iceless” rink in Hendricks County? The rink is located inside Washington Township Park, providing a safe and fun ice skating experience for all ages. Activities include ice bumper cars, skating under the stars, and more. You can find rates and other information here.
