In the past 16 years, the Town of Brownsburg’s population has increased by more than 50%. A vibrant community, low crime rates, strong businesses, and a great housing market all make Brownsburg a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
Downtown Brownsburg is still as charming as ever. But with the recent growth in the area, the space could be better purposed to serve the community. Scannell Properties was recently chosen to develop a mixed-use project in the downtown area. The project will incorporate both retail and residential areas.
The planned five-story development will be built slightly north of downtown on five acres near the intersection of Green and Franklin streets. The space is to include 220 apartments, a 350 space parking garage, and 15,000 square feet of retail space. The company aims to begin construction in summer 2016.
The Town of Brownsburg purchased the former St. Malachy Catholic Church and school property to the west of Green Street in 2012. Another construction project is planned for that area. That project is an 80,000 square foot recreation center. The proposed recreation center will bring more family friendly activities to downtown Brownsburg.
Brownsburg’s look may be changing a bit, but it’s still the wonderful town you all know and love. The new construction projects should bring more business to the already booming local economy while providing alternative housing options in the area.
