The Brownsburg community is a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser each year. This year’s Brownsburg event will be held on Saturday, May 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Brownsburg Town Hall Green.
For the 2016 event, the Brownsburg Relay for Life is aiming to raise more than $120,000 for the American Cancer Society. As of May 6, the event has raised nearly $65,000.
Relay for Life is a family friendly event and this year’s theme is “Games” so it’s sure to be fun for everyone! Each team will have game-themed booth set up with fun games, activities, items for sale, food, and more. A dunk tank, bounce house, and fire truck will add to the day’s fun.

During the event, individuals will take turns walking around the track. Cancer survivors and caregivers will be honored in several ways. Survivors can enjoy a pampering hour, walk a special survivor lap, and eat a Survivor Dinner sponsored by Scotty’s Brewhouse of Brownsburg.
A few highlights of the event include the opening ceremony and team parade at 9:30 a.m. The White Lick Elementary Juggling Masters, Cardinal Kicks Dance Group, ORF Musical Group, Bethesda Christian School Choice, and Brownsburg East Middle School will provide entertainment in addition to live music from local bands. Relay participants also look forward to the Luminaria ceremony held at 10 p.m., which is when participants line the track with paper luminaries that represent those who are currently fighting or have passed away from cancer.
