Brownsburg Community Clean Up Set for April 12th

April 5, 2014 By Tony Reffeitt

brownsburg_toxic_trash_cleanupNeed to recycle an outdated computer? Do you have expired medication laying around? Have you been noticing a lot of litter since the snow has melted?

Here’s your chance to do something about it!

Brownsburg residents can take part in three local clean up and recycling events on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Tox-Away Day

Hendricks County Solid Waste is providing a Tox-Away Day at Brownsburg High School from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tox-Away Day is a great place to properly dispose of unwanted/expired medications, tires, appliances, electronics, medical sharps, and hazardous household waste. Household chemicals and products labelled “toxic”, “poison”, “flammable”,  and “caution” should typically be treated as hazardous household waste and disposed of as such, according to the Hendricks County Solid Waste website. Check the site for disposal guidelines and further information.

One Stop Drop Off

Technology Partners is teaming up with the Town of Brownsburg to host a One Stop Drop Off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Drop Off will be held at the Brownsburg Fleet Maintenance Facility (221 S. Mardale Drive); residents and businesses can bring computers, office equipment, appliances, electronics, and other difficult to recycle items to the One Stop Drop Off to dispose of them in a safe way. Secure shredding for documents will also be offered; for more information, check www.brownsburg.org.

Hendricks County Spring Clean-Up

The annual spring clean-up, hosted by the Hendricks County Partnership for Water Quality, will also be held on Saturday. Groups and individuals are invited to help clean up litter in the community. Help keep our community looking great by volunteering to clean local roadways and ditches with a few of your closest friends and neighbors! Supplies provided. You can sign up to join in the fun at www.brownsburg.org.

These are great opportunities to dispose of unwanted items in a sustainable way and to give back to the community. We look forward to seeing you on April 12th!

Special thanks to the Hendricks County Flyer for providing this information.
