Have you ever wondered what Bethlehem was like when Joseph and Mary arrived more than 2,000 years ago?
Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg is hosting the annual Back to Bethlehem event from December 1-December 3, 2017 to give attendees a glimpse back in time. This interactive program recreates life in a small town first century Middle Eastern culture.
A variety of characters will be present in period attire to interact with participants. These town residents include:
- travelers
- inn keepers
- shepherds
- wisemen
- merchants
- Roman soldiers
- craftsmen
After parking, each attendee will be given a bag of coins to be used throughout Bethlehem. They’ll watch an introductory video that helps set the stage for the experience of a first century town. They’ll also see Rabbis at the synagogue and meet with innkeepers and other individuals in the town.
The event will conclude with a short presentation in a stable. Joseph and Mary, who will be with baby Jesus, will share the story of Jesus’ birth in addition to fulfilled prophecies of the cross and resurrection.
