The 25th Annual B&O Bicycle Tour will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Participants can choose from a variety of ride lengths ranging from 10 to 62 miles.
The B&O Trail Association and Hendricks County Trail Development, Inc. teamed up in 1994 to begin converting the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad line into a multi-use rail trail to benefit local communities.
The annual bicycle tour gives both experienced and casual cyclists the opportunity to explore the beauty of Hendricks County. All riders will ride on part of the B&O Trail and see the new bridge over White Lick Creek. 25, 45, and 62 mile route riders will ride on country roads throughout Hendricks County, crossing the future trail several times. Support for all cyclists includes refreshment stops with water, port-o-lets, fruit, homemade cookies, and treats. SAG vehicles will assist with any minor mechanical issues or rider fatigue.
After the ride, cyclists will be treated to a delicious barbecue lunch from Pit Stop Catering as well as ice cream from Schwann Foods at no extra charge. Mike Whitlock will play live music at Williams Park. The Avon High School Jazz Band will play at the Maplewood SAG stop.
Gear Up Cyclery will be at Williams Park to answer rider questions and assist with pre-ride bicycle inspections. The first 300 riders who check in will receive a souvenir water bottle from A1 Cyclery.
Riders are encouraged to organize teams to participate in the Team Contest. Kids 12 and under ride free; for more registration details, click here.
