Local Girl Scout Samantha Gates is hosting the 1st Annual Mental Health Walk and Health Fair as her Gold Award project. This event aims to raise mental health awareness as well as funds for Mental Health America of Hendricks County. It will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Avon Town Hall Park.
The health fair will feature mental health screenings/educational sessions, keynote speakers, and informational health booths. There is a $5 participation fee for walking that benefits Mental Health America of Hendricks County (cost for families to participate will be capped at $20). There will be a Girl Scout activity area and participating in this event is an opportunity for troop members to earn a special badge.
Event attendees are asked to wear a white shirt and something green in support of Mental Health Awareness. This event is aiming to fill a truck with supplies to fill the shelves of Mental Health America of Hendricks County. Donate nonperishable food items, health/hygiene products, or grocery store gift cards to be entered into the raffle. Raffle tickets will be drawn throughout the walk.
This family friendly community event is a great way to support two local organizations: Girl Scouts and Mental Health Awareness of Hendricks County.
